TORONTO, October 29, 2026 – Beer Canada welcomes initiatives announced in today’s Fall Economic Statement, including the decision to defer the automatic indexation of the Ontario Beer Basic Tax until March 1, 2028.
“The decision by Ontario Finance Minister Bethlenfalvy to stabilize Ontario beer taxation is great news for brewers of all sizes, consumers and our hospitality and tourism partners,” said Richard Alexander, President of Beer Canada. “Minister Bethlenfalvy’s commitment to beer price and tax stability during an affordability crisis for many Ontario families and businesses is the right decision at the right time.”
The Ford government’s approach to adopting practical and sensible policies during this period of economic uncertainty, including freezing beer taxes and supporting the beer manufacturing sector through recent Ontario Tax Cut measures, provides crucial support for jobs and the economy.
